How did Obama cut income taxes for 98% of the people when 47% pay no taxes?
"I don't think we can afford. Look-- I just paid my taxes. And-- and I had a pretty hea-- healthy bill. I'm sympathetic to the fact that people would prefer paying fewer taxes. That's part of the reason why, as part of the Recovery Act, we cut taxes for 98 percent of working families. Because we thought it was important in a recession to make sure people got a little bit of help."
Obama still doesn't know the difference between a tax cut and a tax credit.
Why doesn't he just say what he really did and say.. "I redistributed wealth from people who pay taxes, to people who don't."?
no income taxes* since libs will probably scream about that.

A lot of people just got even more back in their refund than previous years. It really wasn't so much a tax cut for these people as much as it was a welfare increase..

Because it isn't a lie. Taxes were cut. 47% of Americans get all of their income tax refunded to them, but they still have to pay it and go without until those refunds arrive. Conservatives relied a lot on "technically true" rationalizations to justify the policies of the Bush administration. It's hypocritical for conservatives to deny them now.

You seem to have only read part of the 47% pay no taxes story. Actually only about 3% of those 47% paid zero in income taxes. The rest paid their state and federal taxes but because of the level of their income, their deductions, etc. they received a refund on all of their federal and state income taxes. So in essence they paid their taxes, the government used that money free of interest for a year, and they received it back.

Cut income taxes, add a VAT tax to raise the cost of living 20% and put most of the burden on the poor who have to spend a larger percentage of thier income on purchasing the taxed products they buy, and blame the cost increases on Corporations.
Create Hate for business while the Government gets larger, more powerful and grabs more of your money in hidden taxes.
Now There is a Plan!

47% paid no Federal Income taxes.
those people did pay payroll taxes ie. social security and medicare.
95% of Americans qualified for the Making Work Pay tax cut that you received in your paycheck each week.
If you didn't qualify for the TAX CUT you made over $95,000 last year.
This TAX CUT totaled about $400.00 in extra pay a year.
This TAX CUT will be in effect 2009 and 2010.
Hope I cleared this up to you

Seems tough to believe doesn't it?
Obviously one of those figures is wrong and seeing that I don't know a single person that doesn't pay taxes, I'm leaning that way.
As a family that makes about a hundred thousand a year, we did pay about $1,500 less this year.

Yesterday Obama said the VAT TAX would be NOVEL IDEA! That will HURT US ALL! Poor included!
All socialist countries have a VAT Tax- Fed Govt putting around 16% to 20% tax on EVERYTHING WE BUY!
They have to pay for Obama spending somehow! Im sure they won't dare try to start that tax until after the Nov Elections but they would have to PASS it now.

everyone with a job pays income tax.
Not everyone who pays income tax has to pay extra taxes at the end of the year. that's where you 47% comes from.
you think that everyone who gets a tax return gets all of the money that was taken out their pay through out the year back? we don't. I get maybe a third of it back.

Noticed the funny math huh. Don't point out the flaws or the libs will jump all over you!

He pays them for not paying taxes. Lots of Americans get a larger refund from the IRS than they paid. Not a recent phenomenon, been going on for some time.
