"Mild" autism can mean different things to different people. The specific services that are most applicable to your child should be ones based on his or her own needs. As for what method works "best", it depends largely on your child and your situation.
Rather than request a specific program, learn a bit more about what particular services are available and then weigh out your options. As for your speech therapist, learn a bit about what their programs are and what assessments are involved. I may be a bit biased towards behavior analytic tools, but I have had good experiences using the VB-MAPP and ABLLS-R to track functional and language skills.
Find out more about who will work with your child and work out an approach with them. A big part of implementing those services, whatever they are, is having a collaborative relationship between you, the team and the student.

A study by the University of Rome suggests a link between dairy products and Autism... researchers noticed a marked improvment in the behavior of autistic children who were taken off of dairy products... However, the report didn't say how long before the improvments appeared...But, this is a cheap & easy thing to try... simply replace cows milk with soy or rice milk & see what happens.
