*** FYI....Ahuvahb is not an "ex JW" and has NEVER had any kind of association with Jehovah's Witnesses before.

    Unquestionably......YES.

EVERY single one of the beliefs and teachings that Jehovah's Witnesses abide by is directly taught from or supported by God's unfailing Word, the Bible.

Source(s): Experience in exposing frauds who claim to be "ex JW" or "former JW" and actually never had any association with Jehovah's Witnesses before.

Is there an elder in your congregation that you trust ? Why not try talking to him, and ask him your questions? There is much to disfellowshipping that may not come out in public, and may never be known except to the parties involved. If you have been raised in or around the truth, you surely understand the basic concept behind one being disfellowshipped, and even though it may seem harsh to some, it can be likened to what others call 'tough love'. Sometimes you have to be shocked into the realization that what you are doing is simply not acceptable behavior. The Bible TELLS us to not even share a meal with a person who is called a brother ( or has an accurate knowledge of Jehovah's rules and expectations) and who has commited a gross sin for which they are UNREPENTENT. This is in the hopes that the brother ( or sister) will realize what their current behavior is costing them. As for Witnesses believing that you will be destroyed if you are not 'in the truth' as you said, think of this... how many Muslim folks, or Baptists, or Seventh Day Adventists or Wiccans believe that what they know to be truth is THE truth? All of them! Because if you come to a point that you don't have faith in your faith, it's time to change faiths! Who in their right mind would stay in a religion that they have come to doubt? You would at LEAST study more, and then decide! Talk to someone in the congregation, and see if they can answer your questions. And if not, then you will at least have made an informed decision!

well, that's what the watchtower tells them.

really, they've got a whole bunch of made up stuff thrown in. like 1914 which was measured from a pyramid.

in the bible, jesus specifically denies being resurrected as a spirit creature. but the watchtower will tell you he was. how can they deny this, yet still claim to follow the real teachings?

historically, russel predicted jesus to return physically in 1874. when he was a no show, in 1879 he read an article about how he had returned, but it was invisible.

    new doctrine born, invisible jesus.

this retroactively must make newly resurrected jesus invisible too. since he was invisible, he must have manifested bodies to convince the apostles he was risen.

perfectly logical line of reasoning. just not what the bible really teaches.

and no one else believes it, unless they are indoctrinated into it 5 times a week.

    Greetings,

The answer is "Yes, all of the Witnesses' doctrines are proved by explicit teachings in the Scriptures. All of there teachings and "understandings" are either supported by direct statements in the Bible or they are logical conclusions which are in agreement with the context of Scripture.

Any "traditions" which Witnesses follow are in harmony with Bible principles. (This would include cultural, organizational and other similar customs).

All the subjects raised by other answers can be supported by the Bible despite their dogmatic claims to the contrary.

    Yours,

    BAR-ANERGES

    No.

show us what scripture verifies the Watchtower's current teaching that God will become your heavenly Grandfather during the Millennium. Can you give Biblical reference that documents the Watchtower's tradition that says Jesus was not born the Christ but instead became the Christ at his baptism? Can you give the chapter and verse in the Bible that confirms the Society's tradition that the door to heaven was closed in 1935? What scripture would you use to justify the Society's tradition that certain blood components are allowed to be transfused into a patient, yet whole blood is not?

Can you support Biblically the Watchtower's tradition that all non-Jehovah's Witnesses will be destroyed at Armageddon? Can you Biblically document the Society's tradition that a Jehovah's Witness who dies before Armageddon will definitely be resurrected into the new earth, but if the same Jehovah's Witness were to be alive when Armageddon starts, they may not be considered worthy by Jehovah God to survive Armageddon and be allowed into the new earth?

I thought the Watchtower was a man-made company - looks man made to me. They tell the JW's what to do, so it follows that JW's follow a man made company.

Porcelain Bowl does not read through people's answers properly, I suggest she read through it.

    Na.

It's their beliefs to follow as they wish and want.

The JWs believe that they do not follow man made traditions they follow different traditions and doctrines.

The Watch Tower has convinced them that it is the ark of salvation and the mouthpiece of Jehovah. Their beliefs include a talking snake and worldwide flood ... and Jesus did a materialization kinda like the Star Trek transporter beam idea - none of it is in the bible.

One thing that may be said is that the tradition of mother's and Father's day are a "man-made" tradition they do not follow. Christians and non-Christians alike not only honor their father and mother year round in normal circumstances but also give them honor and recognition on both their birthdays and mother and father's day,

JWs by Watch Tower teaching ignore their mother and father and not honor them on Mother's or Father's Day on the ridiculous whim that these have pagan connections and contrary to the commandment to "Honor your father and mother so your days may be long."

The witnesses are taught to say;'"We honor our parents year round", as if Christians do not.

  • Yes, & yes

We use many different translations too, so the comment about our preferred translation is irrelevant

And Ahuvarb's comment "they are not allowed to study the Bible without the Watchtower's other publications" is totally untrue... something she would know if she had been a witness as she claims.

We are encouraged to do daily Bible reading ... reading the Bible (obviously)

Yes we do. This was not always so because we came out of all the other religions claiming to be Christian in our modern beginning. We had to study and learn what the Bible requirements were to be true Christians. Just as James 2:19 stated, "You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder. "

So we wish to accomplish more than the demons. They know who Both God and Christ are while some humans believe they are both the same person.

We know from the Bible what the condition of the dead is. So we would not believe in anything that taught or celebrated the dead coming back for a night, the dead able to influence the living, know either feelings of torture or bliss. (See Eccles. 9:5, 19; Ps. 146:4)

We would not want to have anything to do with pagan traditions. "Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; 11 and quit sharing with [them] in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving [them], 12 for the things that take place in secret by them it is shameful even to relate." (Eph. 3:10-12) It is clear that any mixing of pagan teachings with the pure worship God calls for is detestable to God.

The one observance Jesus told his followers (which means true Christians) to keep was the observance of his death with the Lord's Evening Meal at 1 Corinthians 11:24-26, "took a loaf 24 and, after giving thanks, he broke it and said: “This means my body which is in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup also, after he had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, as often as YOU drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as YOU eat this loaf and drink this cup, YOU keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives."

Never is there any mention of Jesus, his disciples, or any of the 1st or 2nd century Christians celebrating his birth or his resurrection. That was never the command of Jesus. What was a command from the Bible is to keep free from pagan influences and beliefs.

The Bible also shows we are to worship as Jesus did. Whom did he worship? It was his Father, whose personal name is Jehovah. (Ps. 83:18)

1 Timothy chapters 3 &4 give an account of what should be expected from the life of a true Christian. It is for those reaching out to be of service in the congregation but would apply to all of us. Do you see this being done in other religions? Or rather do you see what 2 Timothy 3:1-6 taking place there? We JWs choose to live our lives according to the example of 1 Timothy.

We also obey Jesus in all things. Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20 is especially only done by us. It is a world-wide preaching teaching and warning message we deliver.
