How long should my research paper outline be?

I'm not sure if length is what you should necessarily worry about unless it's a grade. I think it should just be long enough to cover everything you'll be writing about.

oh geez sorry, i just noticed you only needed an outline! well basically have the same stuff, just write on your outline what you are going to be talking about in your essay. like you can write out the first sentence and the thesis on your outline. then you could do like; II. Types of STD's a. AIDS b. HPV c. Crabs III. Ways to prevent STD's a. abstinence b. latex condoms c. an so on.... five paragraphs long. about 8-10 sentences per paragraph. first paragraph (introduction); general statement/rhetorical question. sentences leading up to thesis, last sentence is thesis. paragraphs 2-4 (body); one main idea in each paragraph that proves you thesis. descriptions and examples in each. last paragraph (conclusion); restate your thesis, summarize what you talked about in your body. have a works cited page at the end, everything in alphabetical order on the works cited, make sure you have all the proper info. you need for the book/encyclopedia/website. cite at the end of the body paragraphs where you got your information in that paragraph from.
