Has this puppy been vaccinated? Diarrhea in puppies is serious and can be one of the first signs of Parvo. Take the dog to the vet.

Well, what are you feeding the puppy now? Wet food is going to cause the 'runs', as well as feeding lots of treats or fatty foods. I would suggest right now, you do ensure the dog has water and, if you can, get some pedialyte (its in the infant aisle at any grocery store) and this will restore the puppy's hydration. To see if the puppy is hydrated, lift the skin on the neck/shoulders about 1/2 inch to an inch and let it go. If it springs back to place, then the puppy is adequately hydrated. If it stays for a few seconds and slowly sinks back onto the body, then your puppy is suffering from possible dehydration and you need to try to get it to drink. The pedialyte and/or gatorade has electrolytes in it, which restores hydration to a body. Additionally, has your puppy been dewormed? Do you notice any worms in the stool? Any blood in the stool? Worms can cause diahrrea, usually accompanied by worms in the stool and/or blood spotting due to parasties. If there is more than a few drops of blood in the stool, it could be a sign of a more severe disease, Parvo, and I would suggest you take it to the vet, especially if it is accompanied by lethargy (laying around a lot) and vomitting.

Puppies under 6-8 months are susceptible to Parvovirus even WITH vaccinations, so do not take your puppy outside to new places if possible, and do NOT set it on the ground, especially on the grass or soil. Parvo can live in the soil for up to 10 years. If you have had a dog with parvo, the only way to kill the virus is straight bleach.

As for food, try to find a food that does not have corn or any grain as its first ingredient. A food that has chicken, beef, or other meat as the first ingredient on the bag is going to be the healthiest and ensure the best digestion. Do not feed the puppy human foods, like milk or 'goodies' because these do upset the digestion and can cause complications. For now, if the diahrrea is persistant, again, make sure the puppy has plenty of water and feed it some boiled rice and chicken, which will help solidify the stool.

Hope this helped. =) Without more information, its hard to determine what is causing the problem. Puppies are prone to getting into cabinets and devouring anything they can find, so keep an eye out and make sure you don't leave trash/chemicals/etc. where the puppy can easily reach it. I recommend you get the puppy vaccinated if you haven't done so already and PLEASE consider what I said about not setting the puppy down if you take it away from the home with you.

    Good luck!

My puppy is 15 weeks old, and within the 7 weeks we have had him we have taken him to the vet 4 times just for diarrhea. All 4 times he has been fine, we did the boiled chicken and white rice. Which worked, we slowly started to feed him his puppy food again, and the diarrhea came back. The food we are feeding him is Diamond, the vet says its not the puppy food, but that he is just a puppy. So I tried canned pumpkin, which I heard helps, and so far it has. Its now just loose rather then a puddle. Just make sure he is getting plenty of water.

My English Bulldog eats Canidae All Life Stages and loves it. It's made his coat so nice and shiny too. My Lhasa Apso eats Wellness Core and he loves it too. He is a picky eater too, but tears this food up. Just put a small amount of warm water in the food and it turns into gravy! Also, Just as reasearch has proven, I've found no problems with the higher protein content. Also, Canidae will be the most affordable of the holistic options. If you must go to PetsMart, the go with Blue Buffalo. Stay away from anything else at PetsMart or the grocery store.

Well usually that sort of thing has to do with changing his food. For example, yesterday you fed him Purina puppy chow and today, the bag ran out, but you have Beneful. Another reason could be he just got into something outside like something dead or poop or what have you. So instead of changing his food abruptly, introduce it a bit at a time over the course of the week. So 20/80 Monday, 50/50 Wednesday, and 80/20 Friday, get it? Hope I help!

You might need to take it to the vet to see if it may have Parvo. Sometimes Parvo will cause the puppy to have very loose stools and they can die from it. Parvo is very deadly unless you get the puppy vaccinated for it. I have a Chihuahua and he eats "Nutro" from Pet Smart and he never had problems with loose stools. It is a little expensive but when you get a pet you need to treat them the way you would like to be treated. They are a living, breathing creature that God created. I hope this helps.

A puppy with diarrhea can dehydrate very very fast and get very ill. Take him to the vet, a puppy with diarrhea is never good. Is there blood in the poop? Is he lethargic? Is he eating and drinking? If you think he is sick, do him a favour and take him to the vet.

You should feed it the Take It To The Vet Or Something Might Be Seriously Wrong brand, I use it for my twenty dogs and none of them ever get "the runs".

    PS. I reckon it's a troll.

Source(s): I went troll hunting earlier today. Caught 3. Ate them for tea.

Vet, first it could have parisites. Then a name brand puppy food. I prefer Purina products(even formulated for proper poop). It is affordable, and my vet has never complained about the dogs condition.

Try it on Wellbeloveds, they do free samples and it is widely available online and in bigger pet shops

    www.wellbeloved.com/products/trial_sample.aspx

my doggies are quite happy on it and its hypoallergenic; no wheat or anything that should upset them.

If that doesn't work trip to the vets, it might be worms or an infection.
