Several reasons.
1. It would cost too much to build rockets to send material into space.
2. Unless it was launched exactly right to hit the sun, it would stay in orbit in our solar system and possibly return to Earth in the future and crash.
3. That material may be hazardous (note the spelling) today, but in the future it may become a valuable resource - if we launch it into the sun or into deep space we just threw away materials we may need.

Far too costly and way too dangerous.
There is almost 50000 tons of spent nuclear fuel, and other solid nuclear wastes stored in the united states. Dealing with the waste should have been resolved prior to creating the waste but that is another story altogether.
As rare as space launch disasters are, had heir payloads been nuclear waste, the shuttle explosions would have been catasrophic spreading hazardous material into the sky. The weather could carry the toxins to areas inhabited by people or over farmlands contanimating wide spread areas.
Aside from worst case disaster scenarios, no one wants to spend millions of dollars to throw away garbage. This is why companies have gotten into trouble dumping toxic waste improperly. Now, companies sell the waste to small corrupt nations who dispose of the waste in places that severly damage the ecology and cause health problems for those living nearby.

Because first of all the price would be rocketing second of all even to reach the outer planets like Jupiter would take you 4-6 years and to travel to the nearest star would take you approx 40,000 years. Third of all this materials could explode as the rocket leaves earths atmosphere.
