Is there any repair other than replacement for a Jimmy axle?

The outer flange on a 1996 Jimmy (and many other models) rear axle forms the inner race on the rear wheel bearing (absolutely brilliant engineering).

Is there any repair for this when the bearing eventually chews up the axle surface other than an axle replacement? A sleeve or kit of sorts?

Thanks.

Sorry I took so long(work). Try National P/N RP5707, it's the repair hub for your situation. In a rush I forgot the price but remember it was not bad.

    Edit $36.

Well,I would assume yes. I would also be under the assumption it would be in the form of and axle bearing. If you call a local GM dealer parts counter they would be able to tell you.I would think that inner race would come with the new bearing and you can cut the old one off with a wizzer and drive it back onto the axle with a brass punch I would think.Ive never been in this possition but I know what your talking about and I would think with such terrible engineering they would have a way to fix that without bearing and axle replacement.

yes there is, it's called a service bearing and it simply rides on a different part of the axle race. ask your parts store about one.

    Hi

I have used a machine shop many times for things like this. They can build it up then lath it down to specs. Hope that helps

    Speedy sleeve?

After parts and labor, you may simply be better off buying a used axle.

    They're fairly inexpensive.
