    A=50 ft

    L= 10 ft

    -10 or 5.

    x=width

    x+5=length

    x(x+5)=50 (x to the power of 2)+5x - 50=0

    ∆=25+(4*50)=225

    x=-10 x=5

    Let w be the width and l be the length of the hallway.

    l = w+5

    area = lw = (w+5)w = w^2+5w

    w^2+5w=50

    w^2+5w-50=0

    w^2+10w-5w-50=0

    w(w+10)-5(w+10)=0

    (w+10)(w-5)=0

    w=-10 or 5

    width cannot be negative, so w=5

    l = 5+5=10

    length =10

    width = 5
