Please share your D Day of labor experience:)?
Hi All,
Just wanted to know from all your experience about when did your water break, how did you react, what did you do next, when did you arrive hospital, when did your labor start, did you gave natural or epidural birth, what it felt like.
Also, how did you recover after giving birth, how many days it took, how it felt after birth.
Am sure you understood that I got no experience. Am first time mom at 28 weeks, got so many questions in my mind. I would really appreciate if you can share any kind of your labor or birth story with me.
Thank you in advance :)

I thought my water broke, (found out later i had just leaked a lot of fluid, doctor said it split up top, but idk) at 8pm and i started getting contractions, they just felt like a period so i was able to sleep through them somewhat, we only lived a couple minutes from the hospital so there was no point in going right away. I started to get worried the next morning because i stopped leaking fluids so we went to the hospital at 8 that morning, the nurse was going to send me home, we argued for a while because she tried to tell me that i just peed myself. So finally i got an ultrasound done and she confirmed that i was low on fluids and they wanted to induce me. I was extremely upset to hear this because i wanted to do everything all natural but i was pregnant and crazy so i agreed to be induced, later on i found out that low fluids can be simply fixed by drinking water and resting but i didn't know that at the time, and my doctor was very overly cautious. So first they hooked me up to an iv and gave me penicilin, then they gave me citadel which is this little tag thing with a string that they put upenicillin cervix, which induces you by making you dilate. Of course they said it wouldn't hurt at all but it was excrutiating and made my contractions about 10 times worse instantly and they just got worse fromexcruciatingd one contraction that lasted an hour and a half), after a few hours they gave me the same thing again but in pill form (they took out the tag thing) and let me take a shower because i had been there so long. So i took a nice long very hot shower thinking it would help with the pain, so i was turned towards the shower head letting the water on my belly, and then my contractions started to get way more painful and one right after the other, i fell down and started throwing up, i thought i was dying, lol. then the nurse came in and explained to me that heat on your breasts is another way of inducing so i was being induced triple time, so make sure you don't do that, trust me it is very painful.
a couple more hours they gave me more pills and then finally started me on pitocin and my contractions continued to get worse and worse, finally my water actually broke, it was such a wierd feeling, it feels like a baloon just burst in your belly and for some reason i knew it was going to happen a few moments before, my doctor was about to give another exam and then i was like wait hold on, everyone was staring at me like i was crazy and then it broke and i pretty much flooded the room, lol.
when i reached 6 cm, i started feeling the need to push and my nurses and my husband kept telling me stop pushing, but i could'nt help it, it was like my body was doing it on it's own. hours later i reached 9 centimeters and (the entire time my nurses and my mom were trying to presure me into getting an epidural) i just sat up all of a sudden and i got like this burst of energy, the pain didn't go away but i was suddenly aware of where i was and what was about to happen, it was such a weird feeling.
My doctor came in a couple hours later and i was fully dilated. It took me 25 minutes of pushing, what helped me get her out so quickley, was my doctor told me, don't make any noises becasue that is a way of releasing all your energy instead keep it inside and use it to push, the only time i screamed was when i ripped.
I was in labor for 48 hours but i had back labor my entire last month, induced for about 36 and i did it with no pain meds or epidural. my daughter was 5lbs 13oz and i was 39 weeks and one day gestation when i gave birth.
I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my second and thing are going to be much differnt, i had no birth classes with my first and i was not prepared in any way to handle the pain, so this time i'm going to do hypnobirthing and going to be delivered by a midwife. I had a midwife for a few hours when i was in labor and she was the only one that let me walk around and it felt wonderful also she had all these other ideas of getting the baby to turn and drop and had me bounce on a birthing ball which was very helpful. Those thing really helped me with back labor, which feels like someone is literally trying to rip your hips apart from behind.
I read every baby book i could get my hands on and still was not prepared for things like, having diareah for the first several hours of labor, i couldn't sit up so my husband had to follow me into the bathroom and put pillows behind my back because of back labor, or the fact that i threw up several times while i was in labor or how sore you are post partum.
As far as recovery time it really depends on what you mean, it took me 4 months for all of my pain to go away completley, a couple hours before i could walk, 5 days before i could poop again, which everyone said was going to be so painful but it didn't affect me at all, i luckily didn't get hemroids. Also my milk came in 5 days after and that wasn't painfull either, it was a little bit but not anything compa

I was induced. so they had me come in at 8am. started me on all the meds and so on. had light contractions throughout the day. my water broke on its own at 2am and thats when the actual labor began. I had a spinal to control the pain but it wore off when i was only 5cm. so i gave birth naturally and i felt everything. the whole thing was 12 hours from when the water broke until i had him. afterwards it hurts to walk for a few days but it goes away. I am actually kinda glad i got to experience all the pain and feeling of giving birth naturally. but remember that every woman is different. there are some that dont have any pain at all and it only lasts a few hours and there are some that last 24 hours. after all the pain and delivery was over it is all forgotten when you get to see and hold that sweet little one. now i am pregnant with baby number two and im looking foward to what experience i will have with this one.

Baby #1 The most horrible, horrible, painful day of my life (and also the most beautiful day because my son was born). 32 hours of labor. . .had an epidural - yes, the needle hurt a little (really no worse than getting a shot - it's quick and I was glad I did it), the needle was nothing compared to the contractions. After epidural the pain itself was gone but the pressure was still there in full force - it literally felt like a cement block was going to come out of my butt and I was going to die of exhaustion. Sorry if that's a little graphic for you. I said "THANK YOU JESUS" when my boy finally came out and immediately said "I AM NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER GOING TO DO THAT TO MYSELF AGAIN, EVER!" Two years later. . .Baby #2 - labor was 7 hours, got an epidural, felt some pressure, out she came. SO much easier than the first time. Breastfeeding - with #1 I wanted to so badly but was on a medication for a sleep disorder and couldn't. . .long story. For #2 I started breastfeeding and we really, really struggled so I eventually started bottle feeding. In my heart I wish I would have breastfed both for at least a year, but it didn't work out for us. I think that's great you want to breastfeed. Whatever route you go, you'll do just fine. It's good to have a plan in place and also be flexible at the same time, you've got a good mind set already and it's also nice to hear how it went for others because it gives you some idea of what to expect, good and bad. Congratulations and good luck!

I have nine children. Let me say that that means nine totally different labors from onset, duration and delivery. You just can't compare. I will comment that my last was a c section, a let down for me since my husband and I didn't really share the birth. Those that I had natural were the best, the recovery time is so much faster. I'm not sure if that helps, perhaps you could narrow down your concerns to something a little more specific.
