Sir, I applaud you for your interest in seeking part-time summer employment. I am constantly appalled by the number of materialistic children who frequent this internet program and therefore glad to see someone who is actually getting their act together!

Get your resume in order. Take it with you to the company and go to the desk where the receptionist is and shake her hand and introduce yourself. Then ask him or her if it is possible for you to speak to the manager. They will most likely say no. In this case, politely inform him or her that you are interested in applying for a summer job and that you would like him or her to forward your resume to the manager. The receptionist will take the resume and say sure. Thank him or her again and wish them a good day. BE PREPARED to fill out an application form too. The receptionist might ask you to fill one out on-site, so have your references ready. Generally 3 people who know you well (preferably a previous employer) with their phone numbers and "titles" (i.e. Teacher).

In the even that the receptionist says they will get the manager, introduce yourself to him and her and shake their hand. Tell them you're interested in applying for a summer position and that you would appreciate it if they could keep your resume on file for any possible openings. They will say sure, then thank them again and wish them a good day.

Be dressed professionally! Understand me? No jeans! No T-shirts! Dress pants and a tucked it collared button-down shirt ONLY! Look like you didn't just wake up in the morning either (brush your hair!).

    Good luck Sir!
