Should I switch positions in baseball?
Right now I am in 8th grade and am an average to a little bit above average baseball player. I really want to make the high school team next year. The problem is I play 1st base and the best player in the school, who is one grade ahead of me also does. If I continue to play 1st base the only year I could possibly start on the varsity team would be my senior year, and that doesn't give me a lot of time to get noticed by scouts. My other options would be to either play second base or to play third base. I am not very fast and I am big so I don't think second would be a good option, and my arm is not my top strength. I feel most comfortable playing 1st base, but I don't think I would have a chance to beat out the top player. What should I do?

as you said you are not the best, there is a kid better than you and everyone else, it is a tough decision but i think the best thing to do would to stick to the place you are comfertable in, and if your not the best then change that and work to become the best. i know exactly what your going through because i play baseball and am a softmore in highschool. i play 3rd base and have my entire life and only feel comfertable there. when i came up to highschool and made the jv team there were 2 softmores who were very good and friends with the coach and everything, so i felt the same way you did, and i did consider moveing to the outfield because i did play there some before but i decided to stick to 3rd and work on my weak points of my defence. now the good players are on the varcity and i am the good starting 3rd baseman. there are 2 freshman who are good but now i am getting the playing time because i stuck to it and the coach saw that. in your situation stick to 1st base and even if you dont become the best you will have your time to shine and impress the coach and if you work hard enough he will see that you are ment to be playing there. dont give up on your position even if you dont to play it all the time u will eventually. trust me

If I were you, I would definitely play first base. It's the most fun position on the field. I mean you get the ball more than any other position besides pitcher or catcher. I played shortstop and hated it. Would have loved to play first base if I had the chance

Hold your horses man. If your a little bit above average, you aren't getting a baseball scholarship.
