Climate change data faked by Dr. Michael Mann? Shouldn't he be arrested?

I was just reading about fake climate change reports from Dr. Michael Mann of Penn State University. Shouldn't this guy be in jail?

Dr Mann did not fake any data, despite how many times yo9u may hear it on that scientific treasure tove, Fox News. What he did was construct a number of models that predicted temperature patterns, and he used valid statistical analysis to find the underlying trend in noisy data sets.

I do exactly the same thing with the data i collect.

How many time series have you ever analysed? And how many temperature and climate models have you developed? Once you can produce one that is even 5% as robust as the work of Mann et al then come back and comment. Until then, go and do some reading and educate yourself beyond the "Fox News" level.

Interesting take on the article you have posted, as it seems to be about Dr. Michael Mann suing some deniers. A few years ago one of the lead deniers stated that they were going to sue Al Gore, nothing ever came of that, it will be interesting to see what happens if the boot is on the other foot.

note the date on the video mid 2008

I like the comment from Jeff Davis "The guy is crazy to threaten legal action," & "A lawsuit would give us full discovery -- and there's a lot to look at in his work."

This is not very convincing as ' full discovery' works in both directions their emails and who pays their bills would also be opened and as, thanks to 'climategate' much of Mann's email history is already in the public domain and despite deniers claims much of his 'work' has always been in the public domain. Also given that the U.K. investigation into 'climategate' found no wrong doing on the part of the scientists, I would say Mann has a quite good case and I hope he goes ahead with it.

'The revelations of the leaked e-mails brought into question the methodology used to prove the Earth is getting hotter, and the phrase "hide the decline" became a catchphrase for questioning a human role in global warming.'

Shows just how retarded Fox News are. I think it's tragic that people believe their bullshit.

Still no evidence of deliberate manipulation of work in the peer reviewed literature (although mistakes have been found in the first hockey stick, later ones with 'proper' approaches came to the same overall conclusion). And hockey sticks are not 'the methodology used to prove the Earth is getting hotter'.

Thermometers, satellites, weather balloons, sea level measurements, ocean heat content, boreholes, rising tropopause, changing seasonal arrival times, melting ice, possible intensification of the water cycle & changing plant and animal migrations are also used.

You may or may not like his conclusions, but I really doubt he faked anything.

The lawsuit against people making a satire about him, is unlikely to succeed. Satires are a protected form of free speech. It is obvious they are not being serious. I think Dr. Michael Mann can be considered a public figure, which would make him less successfull with this kind of lawsuit.

There were no law suits over this video

Not only is your source an idiotic one ('It was cold in Minnesota in winter, therefore global warming doesn't exist!"), but it doesn't even mention your "fake climate change reports" claim. It's about a serious and frustrated scientist suing the immature morons who used his name and image without permission, which is very clearly illegal. Where is your source that he "faked" climate data?

Several global warming alarmists made honest mistakes while others purposely ignored or changed data to give the appearance that it backed their belief. The problem is that once a mistake is made all are thrown into the same category of scammers. Some have scammed while others should be more careful before reporting their findings.

Apparently, Michael Mann chose to ignore findings that didn't agree with his global warming agenda. It may be a far stretch to send him to jail. How about taking anything he says again with a grain of salt.

the only ingredient much extra predictable than the fraud is the way the bunny-hugging left tells us to pay no interest to the guy backstage. "particular we are mendacity by using our tooth, yet that would not recommend that is not genuine!"

he did not fake the data. What he did do was weed out several parts of the data to show the trend outside of any background noise.
