Religion is an interesting topic to some people, regardless of how many gods they believe to exist.

ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God – any God – not just the Christian one. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those!!

Like BUDDHISM – Religious teaching from Buddha and his followers that by destroying greed, hatred and delusion (the cause of all suffering) man can attain perfect enlightenment!!

Where do you think christianity got it's ideas of a soul and afterlife from for goodness sake?

They stole it from the pagan tribes and peoples which existed hundreds and thousands of years before christianity!!

From the stone age through vikings, Egyptians, Maoris, Aborigines, American Indians and especially the chinese, they all had elaborate funerals and grave goods to speed the soul into the next life with comfort!!

But the main reason atheist are here is far simpler!!

All the other religions and atheists live in peace and are only attacked by christians!!

Do you not recognize that Christians are provoking retaliation and repudiation for their terrible attitudes?!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped their intolerant, egotistical, hate filled and bigoted postings things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped eschewing education, science, evolution works of fiction and much, much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped being the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting gays, pro choice and so much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped demanding freedom of religion whilst they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them things might change!! !!!

If Christians rediscovered the god of love and forgiveness and put aside all those terrible human emotions things would definitely change!!!!

Why are Christians so afraid of people who simply do not believe in any god?!!!! Surely it can only be because they are so afraid that atheist are right and they are wrong or it would not bother them!!!!!!

Time for Christians to understand that it is not about god, jesus or belief but about the terrible Christians attitudes and behavior!!

As soon as they rediscover the loving god Christianity used to have and start acting like it the problem will cease!!!

There are more than 6 Billion humans on earth. If at least 1/4 of them all sought higher education and human progress we would be able to resolve problems, that while they are not immediate to our lives, are going to go ape **** over our descendants.

Life is a really precious thing, personally I feel insulted, perhaps, by nuts that disregard their lives in such way or that seek something non existent, ignoring all of mankind's progress because he or she can not grasp the concept of being mortal.

And then comes the thing that bothers me most. If some nut somewhere proclaims in the name of it's religion that some terrible thing must be done, genocide, division, etc, then he or she will get away with whatever the hell he does.

Adding insult to injury, CHILDREN of zealots are the most abused beings on earth given the psychological torments some religions inflict during childhood, eventually depriving them of the freedom of being humane.

I could go on, but as a human being I care of other humans, and not because of some petty compensation model.

If a person does believe in god, then why care about what the atheists think? I'm undecided and got here by clicking a link under the religion section. Being undecided (and at times leaning towards atheism) does not mean that I don't care about religious things, it just means I may put them in a different context (such as having a finite beginning and end)

i chose to come to r&s, as that seems to be your main point, because i love to ask and answer qs on religion and spirituality, i love talking, debating on ALL subjects of interest and especially ones that get people really thinking and talking

hmm, from the other answers i agree with them, religion should not promote any evil doing, im muslim, never hurt anyone, never will, i like learning about how people see life, i find it very interesting, and i beleive in God and his signs, I don't believe he commands anyone to kill, its just people made up the lie and repeated it enough until people believed it

I care because, for instance, people are right now trying to get their nonsense fairy tales taught as a valid alternative to science in public schools. Because people will discriminate and worse for their religion.

In a nutshell, I care because people can't manage to keep their private beliefs private.

Oh, btw, many buddhists are atheists. Buddhism is a religion, therefore some atheists are actually religious.
