The easiest way to potty train any dog is to crate train it. Google it if you don't know how, there are plenty of sites that explain it step by step, main thing is to ignore the puppy when it whines, no matter how long.
While you are crate training, set a routine. Out at the same time first thing in the morning every day, out after every meal, out after exercise, and out after the dog wakes up from a nap. If you cannot directly supervise the dog, it should in its crate.
If you follow this method, the dog will be potty trained.

There's a couple ways. If your home all the time then watch your puppy they tend to sniff/circle when they're about to potty. When you see that holler NO to stop them from potential pottying inside then take them outside asap. When they potty outside give them tons of praise like they won you a million dollars and maybe a treat. Don't be to loud or you'll scare them though.
If you can't be on top of them then you can do the pen and potty method. You stick them in a pen and completely cover the floor with newspaper (best place would be a tile/linoleum/concrete surface). then very very slowly make the newspaperr space smaller praise them for messing on the newspaper. Once they mess on the paper you simply move the paper outside and they'll potty outside.
If it's a simple problem of a few accidents take him out more or restrict eating times and how much fluids he's available to. I'm by no way saying dehydrate him but at eighto'clock at night put up his water/food. Just as you wouldn't give your 5 year old a glass of water before bed if they bed wet, do the same with your puppy.

Wow! Ten months old is pretty late to start potty training! I've never tried them, but alot of friends have been successful with those dog potty mats. They just move them a little closer to the door each day until they finally go outside. What I have always done with my dogs is take them out at least once an hour and wait with them until they go. Then praise and pet them and maybe give them a small treat. Keep an eye on him when he is inside and if he starts sniffing around or looking like he has to go, take him outside. If he has an accident and you see it happening, tell him firmly, but don't yell, "no", and take him outside even if he has already gone. When you are sleeping at night, put him in a crate, but make sure you let him out right away in the morning. Hope this helps!

Right now I would work on making the pup healthy. A pup does not gain full control of their bowels until they are 12-14 wks. Keep crating the pup and take out often. What you need to do is train yourself for now. Watch what time the pup usually poo's they usually need to poo right after eating. I would go overboard for now and take the pup out ALOT. Like every 1/2 hour or so.Lock off all rooms when the pup is free roaming except for the room you and the pup are in.Crate the pup if you can not be there to watch. That way you can tell when the pup needs to go potty they smell around or go under or behind something.Go get a little jacket for when the pup goes outside. Not taking him out at this point will set up bad habits and just confuse the pup. You must take him outside. Patience is the key right now. Search Google for potty training tips there are a lot of good sites.
