Is it ever appropriate to list future positions on a resume?

I'm applying for an internship.

I'm currently working at a student publication, but I'll be running it next semester, which I feel speaks to my leadership abilities and the quality of work I did there. Is there any way to mention my upcoming promotion tactfully, or is it something I need to leave off all together?

Thanks for any advice! I don't have a lot of experience with this.

Since it hasn't happened yet, don't put it on your resume.

But DO put it in the cover letter.
