Do you think the NBA officiating ...?

can possibly get any worse? I have been watching Bball for over 30 years now and I am just amazed at how bad the officiating has gotten. Some recent examples: D Wade runs into Rajon Rondo's back and Rondo gets called for a foul! (how is it possible to foul someone who runs into your back?) In last nights bulls/cavs game Brad Miller and J Noah got called for fouls on 3 consecutive possesions while guarding shaq. In all 3 instances replays clearly showed that neither noah or miller even MOVED. They were standing still while shaq lowered his shoulder into them. reggie Miller made comment thet ' how can you call a foul on that?" and much less do it 3 consecutive times. Lebron bowls people over on his way to the rim and gets a foul called on the defender EVERYTIME. Rasheed wallace gets a foul called on him everytime he enters the game, within the first minute. As soon as someone goes near him, they call a foul on him. It goes on and on....

Is it really as bad as it seems anymore?

Could Stevie Wonder,Ray Charles and my bulldog be a better officiating team than anybody they have now?

If a ref pulled out a gun and shot pau gasol on his way to the rim, would david stern fine anybody who complained about it?

Is there something more going on here, can the officiating be this consistently bad in every game or is there someone pulling the strings for a reason, because it seems that what I see goes well beyond ' superstar rules' anymore?

I don't know if the officiating can get any worse. I truly think the NBA is starting to lose some of its credibility. It is amazing how many people I talk to truly believe the league is corrupt. It's kind of sad, but it is perfectly understandable. I used to defend the NBA when I heard such criticisms, but now I am more apt to agree with them.

The refs special treatment of Shaq is nothing new. He's made a career out of that post move where he lowers his shoulder and runs over his defender. The same thing happened when the Kings' Vlade and Scot Pollard tried to defend him almost a decade ago. It was a joke then and it is an even a bigger joke today. Shaq is half the player he once was and he is still getting pampered by the refs.

I know you have serious issues with the excessive travels, carries, and other illegal moves players commonly use these days. I have to agree with you on this criticism as well. The NBA is traveling down a road towards becoming simply a form of entertainment at the expense of the integrity of the game. The league is getting watered down in a bid to make it more exciting to the casual fan.

You listed a few examples of the poor officiating. Here is another recent example from the Portland-Phoenix series:

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happend on that play.

I don't really know if it is simply a case of awful officiating or if someone is pulling the strings. I think there is some truth to Tim Donaghy's allegations. Maybe not all of them, but certainly parts. I'm thinking about picking up his book and giving it a read. I don't like putting money in his pocket, but is it really worse than supporting the NBA and putting your money in the pockets of David Stern and his army of incompetent refs? I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist by any stretch, but I am a little cynical when it comes to the NBA.

I WAS AT THE GAME MORON What you're pronouncing isn't what occurred, dirk isn't a flopper and the hornets in on the spot replay had been SHOWN to be those shoving, they have got angle disorders and want a rattling pacifier for his or her suits and might be we must get one for you too and the relaxation in their dull lovers. It is past me why a hornets few lovers could exhibit up at a MAVS recreation and no longer aid their workforce, and to those who had been seated via me, I'm blissful your no longer for my workforce you should not have what it takes to be a FAN!! If you desire to whinge uncover a respectable intent you might have none right here

I agree that its not just superstar calls anymore, its just plain BAD calls. PLayers are getting fined left & right for criticizing officials, but the officials derserve the critics bcause they Suck.

The Lakers and Cavs (Kobe and LeBron) get all the calls their way.

Honestly, I hope it gets worse. Because, only then, will something be done about it.
