Which equation is equivalent to?

1. 5x −2(7x +=1) 14x?

A −9x -2 =14 x

B −9x +1= 14x

C −9x +2= 14x

2. 42 ( − 5x )=6 − 3 ( 1 − 3x )

A 8 x =5

B 8 x = 17

C 29 x = 5

D 29 x = 17

and please explain how you got that answer. im trying to study for this test and im allowed to use this to help us (not actual test) and i dont get these two. can you help me and thanks!

    lemme try:

    5x-14x-2=14x

    -9x-2=14x

    so it is A

    -210x=6-3+9x

    -210x=3+9x

    -207x=3

    That is none of the choices, though...

    hmmm...
