What kind of laptop should someone get to keep client medical records on?

Do you use an encryption software program or do you get the laptop with an encrypted hard drive to be HIPAA compliant? Any idea of cost? This would be for a sole practitioner, not a large medical practice.

You need a laptop with a normal configuration.

But you need a finger print scanner and a very good Client Medical Report Software.

    This will cost like 600$-800$.

Typically you would want a 'convertible' (converts to a tablet) notebook with touch screen, but you should not store client records on it. They get lost, broken or stolen too easy. You want something portable and mobile with wireless capability to connect to your main data source (like a server). The prices range anywhere from about $700 up to $3000.
