what does it feel like to be induced?
i am 41 weeks today and still no signs of labour. saw my gp this morning and discovered that i have added 2kg in the past one week. the doctor thought of giving me one more week but discovered through ultrasound that the water had gone so low. says if nothing happens by tomorrow i will have to be induced. this happens to be my third and i have had the first two at the 39th week. i wish i do not have to go through the induction. i'm scared.

The pain tends to come on all of a sudden rather than the gradual build up you get with a natural labour. Other than that it's not really any differance. You'll be fine....GOOD LUCK

Take a deep breath. Inductions for medical reasons, which you have, are very important. In general, there's four ways to induce labor--breaking your bag of waters, inserting a foley catheter, pitocin and cervical ripening agents. Your provider may use a variety of these or only one depending on you, the baby, the situation and youre cervix.
It helps that you've delivered before; it means your body knows what to do and with luck only needs a little reminder to get things started.
This is a good article about inductions that may help. Good luck!

Don't worry; there's really nothing to be scared of. I was induced for my first child. They started by giving me a medication in the evening, before I went to sleep. It can be a bit painful when they insert it, as it's inserted under your cervix. It is intended to soften your cervix. You sleep through any discomfort from this process. The next morning, they remove the insert and give you another medication called Pitocin, which brings on contractions and labor. From there, it's pretty much the same as a normal labor/delivery.
I've heard sometimes that they skip the first medication and start you right on the pitocin.
Good luck!

I was induced using Pitocin at 37 weeks with my first. They started the IV at about 1030pm and contractions started about 45 minutes later. After about 2 hrs on the drip, the dr. broke my water to speed things up, which wasn't painful. After about 3 hours they stopped the Pitocin and my body took over, creating it's own contractions. I was fully dialated and ready to push after about 7 hours. I'm preggo again and would love to do it the exact same way this time. There's nothing to be scared of, especially if you've been through it all twice before. Just think... afterwards you won't be pregnant any more!!! Plus you'll have #3 to snuggle up with :)
