Since "conservative" Republicans want smaller govt. and spending, then why don't they vote Libertarian?
Why keep voting Republican? Because if you want less government, you're not going to get it with the Republican Party.
They keep making the argument that voting Libertarian is a wasted vote, yet they still claim they aren't "really" for heavy GOP spending. So why keep voting for the same party looking for different results?
Reagan, G.H.W. Bush, and G. W. Bush (especially) all increased government spending. Did it ever occur that if enough conservatives vote for a Libertarian candidate, that maybe, possibly, they would have a chance at getting elected? You all supported big spending John McCain over a true conservative in Ron Paul. But when Paul runs, you don't want to hear anything he has to say, yet you'll claim you don't want "big government".
1776: you proved my point then. You all don't want a smaller govt., you just want Republicans instead of Dems doing the spending. That's being a hypocrite.
Ron Paul is not a true Republican. He is a Libertarian.

Lol, you are being a little disingenuous. You already know they could care less about smaller government or spending, they want to control what people do in the bedroom and who can marry who. They only want to be in control indefinitely, and spend like money is going out of style....that's it.
So what was your motive behind a question you already know the answer to? lol...

I'm a libertarian, and since I have the brains to realize a libertarian has no hope of winning the election, I'm voting for Romney, who is a monumental improvement over Obama. You're just a lying piece of sh!t trying to convince real libertarians to throw away their votes.

It's because the Republican party is much bigger and has more power. But you know that. I liked Ron Paul from the start of hte 2008 election. But I do know some conservatives who were once Republicans but now consider themselves Libertarians.
And anyone can really be a libertarian.
You can be conservative all around, both economically and socially. But I've know some Libertarians who are economically conservative and socially liberal.

The reason that Ron Paul gets no respect from the GOP base, is because he will not give into the corporate welfare and favoritism that exists in washington. Paul can't be bought! If the US ever elect someone like Ron Paul, someone without a hidden agenda (money), voters would realize how great this Nation could be.

Those are Rinos and we are trying to remove them from the party. Explain how Libertarians can win without electoral college and maybe you'll convince me.
I love Ron Paul. He is a Republican. McCain was the worst of the candidates - I think liberals voting in primaries had a lot to do with that.

Charley Crist is a sitting governor losing the primary. That is a step in the right direction. I have friends who voted for Perot, and got Clinton elected, and that was a big bad one I'm coming to see. How did Clinton steal nearly 1000 FBI files on republicans and nothing was done about it, when Nixon got in such crap over 1 file? And the guy who took it went to jail? Something stanks in Denmark, and it's right here in the US.
Throwing the big government bums out is good, I don't care about party, and in fact the last party I belonged to was Democrat, but they are organized crime and other democrats can't see it past their group think.
Ron Paul is a fascist, he's a liar, he's greedy for power, and a man like Ron Paul WILL SCREW YOU OVER TO GET SOMETHING FOR HIMSELF.

It's just rhetoric, it has been proven time and time again that the Republicans are for big government, just spending the loot on something they approve of. They are anti-liberty also. They hate liberals more than incompetent government.
They are a fraud and it is hard to believe people believe the lies. At least the Democrats are upfront about their bad policies!

There are still far too many Liberal like people that think Libertarians will close ever fire and police station, and and army bases. So it is still nearly impossible to get a Libertarian elected. Like in ever aspect of life, they make a compromise

It's best to transform an existing party than to try and start from the ground up.
Tea partiers and other Liberty lovers are taking over the party infrastructure at the grass roots level and will put their candidates forward instead of country club republicans and RINO's

Because there are only two choices on the ballot in my state. I had not chance to vote for Bob Barr because he wasn't a choice. I couldn't even write him in. I would prefer Barr to McCain, Palin, Obama, etc. But I had no way to vote for him.
