Best Media Center Graphics Card?
I am looking for a Graphics card and Info on how to be able to see my desktop on my 1080i Samsung DLP tv. Right now I am running some old n-vidia graphics card with an S-video connection to my Tv from my home made media center running XP Media Center OS. When the media center program itself runs, I can see the letters on the folders fine I.E.(Videos, Music, Photos etc. ), and the divx movies and tv shows I watch are fine and clear with whatever resolution I set the video card to (currently my resolution is set at (1024x768 - small letters but fuzzy on desktop). Now what I want is to be able to see the desktop and other non media center programs clearer, like media monkey or even internet browsing. Do you know what I mean by the difference between the desktop browsing picture and media center browsing picture? I have tried to set the character size larger in my options and it worked a little... changing the resolution just makes me lose desktop space. I know a lot of things play into this... Type of connection, resolution, character or font settings in windows? So, is what I need a new graphics card with hdmi or dvi output? What is the best card or things I may want when looking for a card, and what other settings might I not be thinking about. I have read a lot of forums on what videos cards to use, but I haven't found a question like mine. So, if any help or direction can be given I would greatly appreciate it. I hope I've made it clear, if not hit me up and thank you! I just don't want to go pay for a moderately expensive video card if its not going to solve the desktop focus problem. My TV has all inputs except for the straight VGA Monitor input.

The reason is like that is because S-video is pretty crappy, and supports a terrible resolution.
Buy a low end Radeon HD 4xxx series graphics card. I believe my HTPC has a 43xx card...It has HDMI, DVI, and VGA outputs. The HDMI supports 1080p with audio, and the DVI supports 1080p. Those are what you want and will give you great output.

no. the pix playing cards in laptops are facet of the motherboard. If you desired to improve it you would be watching at a brand new motherboard. you would be larger off getting a brand new pc.
