Do Laser printers use ink?

Hello Folks,

I print a lot of documents and I can no longer afford (literally) to keep buying ink to replace my empty ink cartridges for my Ink Jet printer. Do Laser printers use ink? I don't think so, but do the laser printers that use color require ink?

Thank you for your support and have a pleasant day.

They use toner, which is a type of ink i suppose. It uses heat to fuse the ink to the paper instead of spraying it. It can be more cost effective if you do a lot of printing. Usually if you do a ream of paper or more a week or so it can be a good change to move to a laser printer. The toner does cost more but in most toners you get 1000 page yield or more. You can even buy some in XLS which give you even more for your money. And the many are black and white only but you can buy a color laser. They are much more expensive usually. And most require 3 separate color toners. Which is good on saving ink but can be expensive. It also depends on the ink and printer you use now. a lot of canon cartridges only have 13ml of ink in them. Where hps have 26ml or more. If you don't do a lot of printing you might consider getting a more cost effective ink jet.Like a newer hp offiejet or a new lexmark. Lexmark has a couple that are about a penny cost per page.

Yes they do. It's called toner. I have a laser printer for college and I've had it for 4 years and I'm still using the toner that the manufacture gave me! It is a lot more cost effective than ink jets.

Laser printers uses TONER (Powered Ink) which is filled in the cartridge of your laser printer. Original cartridge (Company manufactured) are costly, you can go for compatible cartridges which are cheaper than original ones or you can get your cartridge refilled (here the computer repair shop will refill your cartridge with TONER)

Color toner powders are also available, so if you have an colored laser printer, they use separate 3-4 colors which on mixing produces the desired image on paper.

They use toner. Basically, it's plastic powder. The printer uses an electrostatic charge to make the toner cling to the paper in the areas where you want it to print, then rolls it over a heated drum to fuse the toner to the surface.

You still have to buy toner, but in general, laser printers are more economical than inkjets. They also don't have the problems with clogged print heads or the ink drying out in the cartridge if you don't use them in awhile.

Yes they use an ink toner cartridge that you have to replace every so often when it runs out, just like any other printer.

no, but they do use a powder called toner, it's about $150 more expensive than ink, but it prints out thousands of sheets of paper
