If there really is a secretive elite planning on ruling the world through a totalitarian government ...?

There is a lot of speculation and fear that it could happen, but whether or not it's true, nobody knows for sure. Some people would argue that it is already true, although it's not done so blatently as you described, but through mobile GPS, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and other websites that encourage people to talk about their lives. It's a form of control through complacency; keeping the masses fat & happy.

There could be many reasons to invade the privacy of individuals, but my best guess would be so that the people in power can ensure there are no people assembling with the intent to remove the ruling people from their positions of power.

In response to a following post: to dismiss "conspiracy theorists" as crazy and to pretend the government is too incompetent to pull off such a scheme is exactly the kind of attitude that will allow that sort of plan to come to fruition. Perhaps there is a mile-wide trail of evidence, but the people who talk about it are labelled "crazy."

I have looked very hard at a lot of documented evidence for a lot of conspiracy theories. Some are credible, but just about all conspiracy theories are based on evidence that comes from a confirmation bias. The masses in the U.S. are under the control of a powerful elite, but we have volunteered for it and continue to do so as we censor ourselves by calling such ideas crazy. But all you have to do is look around. We are under control, but it's not necessarily a neferious plot or far-reaching conspiracy. It's just a way of life. Germophobes are controlled by the messages that Lysol commercials are beaming to them through their television, that everything is covered with dangerous germs. They give you highly magnified images of said germs, implying their presence on some ordinary surface, complete with some musical jingle that implies inevitable doom. Control is through fear, brought to you in the form of a mass marketing campaign. Big brother is watching you, but YOU are big brother.

The NEW WORLD ORDER is alive and well. The last known meeting was in Belgium. Take a look at some of the member ship. Also review the attendees ( which are invitation only).

If "we the people" do not attend to the governance of our nation, THE NEW WORLD ORDER

will continue to prevail.

This is such a crock. Anyone who ever spent time in the military, or a big corporation, knows that chaos, accident, good and bad luck, randomness, ego, treachery and stupidity are the governing factors in the affairs of "big men".

That myth has assisted to cover up the illegal activity in both business and government sector for many years.

Very good question no one can give you and answer. My opinion is they are trying to reach utopia in there own sick way or they just want total controlled. Or both but i don't understand what motivates them.
