Rashes causing peeling on baby's face?
Hi everyone. Just have a little delimma..... my son is almost 5 weeks old. He was born a week late and he has extremely dry skin, which has gone away now. Since about 2 weeks old, he started developing these rashes on his face. I thought they were heat rash, but then they got worse. Then i took him to the doctor and he said it was neonatal acne caused my his body trying to excrete my hormones, and that they would clear on their own. however, since a week ago, the rashes has gotten WAY worse, to the point that it's peeling his skin (it doesnt seem to hurt him , cuz when i clean it with a towel he doesnt even budge), there are lighter skin patches all over his face where the rashes peeled. and the parts where the rashes are still present are darker. has anybody had any experience with this and know what it is? its really bugging me. Im taking him to the doctors on tuesday to show my the doctor. please help
o i forgot to mention that the rashes are only on his face

OMG...I CAN RELATE...My son went through the same thing as well...and the cure is...Wash his face with DOVE SOAP and put EUCERIN lotion on his face twice a day. His skin will start to clear up totally. I promise you that this will work. My son's face is so clear now. That I don't want to stop using the Dove or Eucerin. My son will be 2 months on May 10th. His face will clear up almost immediately.

Both of my kids had eczema. My daughter's wasn't too bad so I could treat that with over-the-counter. My son's was really bad and the pediatric dermatologist gave me a miracle oil (can't remember the prescription) that helped him a lot. I had people ask what was wrong with him (however, ignorant people). I know how frustrating it is. The dermatologist really helped a lot and was able to prescribe better medications. I also used hyrocoritsone cream (he also prescribed a special one that worked better than over-the-counter) and the doctor advised how often to use it to not over-use it so the steroids wouldn't thin the skin and/or harm my baby. Both of my kids pretty much grew out of it by around age 3. I know that's a long time but they are now 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 and only have a flare-up once in a while (maybe once a year if that). Try to be patient and see what the dermatologist says. If you're not happy after a month, go back for another treatment plan.

I'm going to assume that the peeling is dead skin and that it is good. Just dont peel it yourself just let it flake off. If the skin where it peeled off is whiter and just fine looking then that is more than likely all it is, new skin. =]

please dont do too much to it! it will get worse. use a very mild bath or baby soap when you give him a bath. then put on a thin layer of natural lotion ( jergens has a natural line now thats great for babies. no chemicals or preservatives) and thats it. wash and moisturize it everyday. do not peel it yourself. do not layer a bunch of crap on it. its normal. and easy to take care of if you are consistant.

If you have eczema, it is important to take good care of your skin. Learn here https://tr.im/NevGt
Take warm (not hot!) baths on a regular basis and immediately applying moisturizers afterward will help keep your skin moist.

I seen it in babies but it may be eczema you might wanna try to put pure shea butter on it.
