Has anyone heard about the NEW Iver Johnson firearms?

I went into a local gun store in my area and found something that really caught my eye. it was a NEW Iver Johnson its in the 1911 kind of style. I don't know much about this i have tryed to find out more about the company but all i can find is the website and thats all. the version i was looking at was the Trojan series. they look like they are comparable to the rock islands. i am just wanting to know if it would be worth buying to almost $400.00. if anyone has one of these can you let me know or give me your thoughts about it or maybe you can find out where they are made because i cannot even manage to do that..

thanks

Hmmm, according to this source, the last "new" Iver Johnson was produced some time ago http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/EveryGun/GunMfgDeta... and also http://www.americanrifleman.org/Webcontent/pdf/201...

The current crop of Iver Johnson's are being put together in the Phillipine Islands by SAM (Sporting Arms Manufacturing) http://ezine.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=30, and that would put them in the same classification as Rock Island Arsenal and some others. Its fairly easy to see why you had trouble digging all this information up, as there's a ton of info on the "old" Iver Johnson, and you really have to scratch to find info on the "new" Iver Johnson. At least they preserved the owl's head logo.

Source(s): Read the reviews. Probably worth 400 bucks if its as well crafted as the RIA. http://www.iverjohnsonarms.com/25701.html
