What would your solution be to limit or stop illeagals from coming into our country?

Clearly what we are dong is failing. I believe if when CA built the border walls if the WH has been involved (they don't protect citizens) then a big hole wouldn't have been left for illegals to continue to cross our borders-

Secondly, If we really enforced our present Federal alws--which allows in all 50 states--for anyone suspected of being here without permission during a legal stop--to prove they are here under the law--then we wouldn't have gotten this far down the road--and 13 million roaming the country foot loose and free to do crime and avoid taxes and bring drugs here.

I love Mexico's policy--and yes--I would agree to enforce any laws we currently have and adding specifics, like 3500 only can enter..et all.

and the fool that thinks the republicans disagree with this is a moron. ALL things need to be done, the only reason why repubicans dont like the punish the employer is because its always layed on top of an amnesty program. If you ask a republican if they support 3 things I mentioned(ok maybe some divergance on exactly how to protect the borders) They will agree with me.

Once we control and enforce the existing laws and get the situation under control we can re-evaluate if we need to increase the amount of immigrants we want to accept legally.

Eliminate the welfare systems that allow them to come here and immediately be fed, sheltered, and given medical care. I'm talking about doing this for everybody, by the way, not just illegals. Then streamline the immigration procedure to only screen for those who are convicted felons in their home country or carrying communicable diseases. Make the entry fee as low as possible to only cover the cost of the beauracracy. Bam, most of the immigrants are now legal, and they know they have to get a job if they want to eat.

I'm amazed (and pleased!) that most of the people here know exactly what we ought to do.

Illegals come here in search of jobs. If the jobs dried up, they would stop coming. They take jobs that Americans won't do, or that they will do cheaper. They live six to a room on sub-minimum wage and even send money home.

So the ONLY way to stop them is to begin prosecuting companies that hire them.

The Republicans are incredibly hypocritical on this subject. They LOVE illegal aliens because they work cheap, and a large, ready pool of immigrant labor keeps wages down for all workers. Cheap labor is one of the most important principles of the Republican Party. The last president who gave illegals an amnesty was Ronald Reagan, and the last one who tried and failed was GW Bush.

But rather than punish corporations who are just trying to maximize their profits (God forbid!) the Republicans advocate simple-sounding solutions they know won't work, like building a fence.

Go after the people that hire illegal immigrants. Make all immigrants sign waivers that they will not take government benefits other than those they pay for (i.e. Social security which gets deducted from you paycheck). That will not only reduce illegal immigration but immigration in general.

Worker program.

Newsflash to people saying put the employers in jail. The illegals will come over anyway. If you take away the employers then what do illegals do for money? I'm sure it'll be nothing on the up and up.

NO!! The only thing that would stop the flow would be that America become as undesirable a place as Mexico to live. Then and only then will illegal immigration slow down or stop. Immigration will not stop until all the good in America is gone.

I would put 100000 troops on the mexican border. Seal it and enforce the law we already have on the books. Sooner or later we are going to need troops on the border before it is too late.

We should have a fleet of Predator drones patrolling the border authorized to shoot all humans on site.

I agree with going after those who employ them, but we still need better control at our borders, I am much more concerned about potential terrorists and or drug smugglers entering our country.
