Can someone tell the definiton of pyrolyse?

I have searched everywhere and all I can find is in German.

    It is a little sneaky - It is a different "tense" of the word "pyrolysis", so will not typically show up in searches...

    All it means is to change something by heating it. Pyrolyse ice into steam by heating it for example, or wood into ash (or more scientifically) change a chemical into another, such as calcium carbonate into calcium oxide by heating strongly enough to drive off carbon dioxide from the molecules of calcium carbonate.
