Marriage and Divorce Laws question?

What would be the problem with having uniform marriage and divorce laws throughout the United States?

Update:

This is not a democratic/ republican question. I simply wanted somone to state what would be wrong with this scenario. I am very disappointed in all of your answers.

The problem would be getting all the states to agree on a law. That power lies with the states, not with the federal government, so in order to make uniform laws across all states, either all the states would have to agree and agree not to change it, or the federal government would have to ammend the constitution to take the power away from the states, and that will never happen. We the people enjoy our power seperate from the feds.

I would make it as follows: I would outlaw most divorce altogether, and for what divorce remains, I would make sure that all proceeds go to the loyal party.

Of course the last time I wrote about this, I was viciously gang-attacked by a pack of liberals, who invented a lie out of the thin air that I was "against women's rights" and wanted to "enslave women to tyrants."

How laughable, when the one of the main purposes of my suggestion is to keep the family unit together and to protect children's rights by keeping their two parents united. Liberals are mentally afflicted and challenged, however, as we all know.

However, the answer below about states' rights does have merit and I won't argue that. I'm mainly speaking about the overall concern of divorce.

P.S. We also know that easy divorce is one of the main elements and "sacred cows" of liberalism. It's like "religion" to them and they regard it as an unalienable right.

Requiring uniform legislation would take away the basic freedoms of the states. What would be the purpose of state government - if - their laws had to follow the guidelines of all other states. It would be total federal control.
