How are dachsunds with other dogs?

Im planning on bringing another dog into the house this month. Im not worried about the new dog. He loves everybody animal or human. He even loves cats. Im worried about my dachsund. I live alone so I haven't been able to socialize him as much as I'd like. So my question is as a breed how well do dachsunds get along with other animals? Particularly other dogs?

Dachshunds tend to be protective of their owners.

Please take your current dog with you to meet any dog you are interested in adding to your family, let them meet on neutral territory and see if they like each other or not.

If you pick a dog that your current dog also likes, it will make for a much happier household.

Dachshunds are sometimes very protective over their owners. I know this because I have one of my own mini doxies. They can get along with other dogs very well though, we have 3 other dogs and she gets along fine with them. It may take a few times to introduce your new dog and your dachshund together and have it work, but they will eventually adapt to the new dog. I hope this helps.

they can be territorial . you know your own dog best.

can you take them both to a nuetral place to meet? it would be good if they had met before the new dog enters your place.

dog parks are good for that. they are fenced.

its difficult to socialise a dog when your busy i know. mine hasnt been out for ages.

your guy will probably love a friend. he just doesnt know that yet.
