Do you feel it is a good idea for young educated 20-somethings to move to other english speaking countries?

So from what I've been researching the generation graduating today from college is known as the "lost" generation. No jobs projected until the next generation graduates. It also looks like social security won't apply to us either, and we'll be spending most of our money in the future to pay the interest rates of massive debt. On top of that there are free trade agreements out there that are allowing jobs to be exported to third world countries and allowing those from poor countries (Mexico) to move here at cheap rates.

It looks like the US may become a land of cheap jobs catering to others - like China, which seems to owns a very good amount of our foreign debt. To top all of that off neither the Democrats (raise taxes & spending) or the Republicans (lower taxes & spending) seem to be willing to break ideological differences and fix the problem.

Would it be a wise investment for college graduates in America to simply jump ship and move to another English speaking nation like the UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand?

Avoid the UK -- there are serious issues there, too.

It's a crappy job market for everyone, not just recent college grads. I can sympathize with you. I graduated in 1975 in a very down economy, but nothing like today. Obama mentioned in his commencement speech at U. Michigan that this is the worse year for college graduates to find jobs in 50 years.

I suggest that you find an entry level job way below your qualifications in a good company. Do your very best and when the economic climate improves, you will have been noticed and given an opportunity. That's what happened to me. It took 1&1/2 years. In that time, I was gainfully employed and earning a pay check. That same company also sponsored me (paid) to get an M.B.A.

The countries you mention are also feeling the pinch of a bad economy and unemployment. the job market is no better there, maybe worse for you.

Sure, if they want to, why not! The collages are mostly producing liberals and this country certainly has enough of them anyway. Overseas jobs until you grow-up, good idea, nothing will make you appreciate America like doing a stint in another country!

Yes, the USA is definitely in decline.

Any graduate just starting out should consider seeking employment in other countries.

And don't worry, most of the world speaks English because they are so eager to enter the country illegally and take our jobs.

For every illegal who makes it here, there are 10 others trying.

You can learn the local language while you live there. The English speakers will accomodate you.

Why would the 20 somethings want to do that ? They got the President they voted for ! If this isn't what they wanted , why did they vote for the organizer ?
