What is the best windows error fixing program?

My copy of XP Home is throwing error messages at me left and right. My games are running much slower, programs are spontaneously closing, features on my keyboard have suddenly stopped working, and it takes a good 5 minutes just for windows to shut down. I'm hoping I'm not going to have to buy windows XP and reinstall it, and I don't have a system restore disk. I see these Error fixing programs online, but I don't want to download a worm or any other malicious software. Is there a genuine program out there that can fix my computer, and where can I get it?

Update:

This isn't a virus problem, I have macafee 2010.

Update 2:

What I want, is a program that can scan my computer and find ALL software errors and repair them,

just because Mcafee is not reporting any problems it does not mean there are no trojans or anything hiding in there.

#1 Download "hitman pro". This will find anything malicious and get rid of it. There is a free trail for a month with this and you only need to run it once. Do a search with google you will find it quickly. This software is really good.

#2 you have probably seen loads of adverts of registry cleaners. This should be a last resort as many are junk and cause more problems then they fix.. I should know because I deal with people everyday who have thrashed their windows installation after running one. There are probably a couple out there that do work but you can fix this without running one.

#3 The shut down issue is a clear indication that either a driver or an application is at fault or worse there is malware on your computer. I would run hitman pro first. If your computer still runs slow I would then start to remove any programs or software you are not using as you may be using up all your memory and a lot of your CPU resources.

#4 If you really must check to see if there are registry errors you can usually download a free scanner. Don't go and buy anythnig until you have made sure there are really errors. I've posted a link to one of the better ones below. Just do not go any buy anything though unil you are certain there is a problem.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

    First open CCleaner

Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.

To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:

Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.

Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.

afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.

The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.

If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)

The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).

Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.

Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

Ask 10 people that question and you'll get 10 different answers. The answer is not finding a program to fix the problems, but finding a computer that doesn't have them in the first place. Get a Mac!

Sadly, nothing from Microsoft is free. But what kind of errors are you getting? It helps to know the actual problem. Have you tried using Microsoft's update program on the web? Good luck.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axlZt

You need to be specific about WHAT problems you are trying to fix? There actually is a fix for all Microsoft bugs, but you DO need to know which one is causing a problem.

    spybot s&d is good.

hijack this is good run it and post it on a forum for user review.

make sure u always have a running antivirus ex: norton mcafee, etc.

the fix all with these kind of problems is reformatting the computer which can be done

with the disc the computer came with.

to get rid of other tiny things try adaware SE personal.

all programs can be found on their reputable home sites or mass program cites such as downloads.com
