Do teens get more into single books or book series?

How about trilogies?

I always like series if the series was really good, but not more than five because then it would start getting hard to find them at stores and the library, and usually by the fourth one the author starts taking forever to write the next one.

What I really like were groups of series, the kind where the author will write three or four about one character and then write another three or four about another character in the same world/town/city/family...generally they involve generations or a family and then the next series is about the man that one of the daughters of the first family marries or something like that; or the first section is about one character and the next is about a new generation but not her relative ex. Tamora Pierce's books about Tortall.

But I also like singles and duos, if the second book is as good as the first.

I'm a teen and an author, and personally, I like either. However, the majority of teens prefer book series - a trilogy would be ideal. Even a sequel is fine, so long as the characters continue - nowadays teenagers love to attach themselves to characters so the more there is of those characters the better the books will sell.

definately a series. I really don't even like picking up a book if I know that when I reach the last page the story is going to be over. If a book is good enough to read, I want to read about the characters' lives for a long time. Trilogies are ok but I prefer like 8-12 book series like Harry Potter (which still left me feeling sad when I finished the 7th bc I wanted to read more about his adventures.)

Series obviously appeal more to teens more ( as seen from the current answers).

I personally prefer series, because they can go on longer, and so more things can happen. Loose ends can always be tied up in the final book, meaning that one book ends with some suspense, and it can pick right up starting on the next book.

This of course, means a smaller book, and probably a wait time between books, making it even more enticing.

I think the answer is a series, walk into any large book retailer and the teen section is 99% series books

Well, single books are good but they don't really fill my ( a teens ) mind. i want more. but a too long series is too much to handle too. I go fro trilogies. they are not too short or too long. a four part book series is also not bad.

Personally, I prefer series. And I think you can get that from most popular literature with teens these days --- Harry Potter, Twilight, the Series of Unfortunate, etc.

    I'm a teen and I prefer a series.

If it's a good story I always want it to go on for a long time.

well im 13 and i love single books if they're over 300 pages but under 700, because some stories are better left with just one book.

But i do quite like series, because when i get into a good book i don't want it to end, sounds really daft but i get upset when my books end... haha, im probably retarded but you know.

umm... i'd say... probably a series, i enjoy many single books but they come to an end far too soon :( because i read far too fast.

Same here, I'm a teen and I mush prefer a series. My only beef is that they take forever to come out :\
