Should Ma Ying-jeou be tried as a traitor to Taiwan?
I've yet to see or hear of President Ma standing firmly on the side of Taiwanese nationalism. In fact, he has taken several steps to deny any show of patriotism by the Taiwanese people. Being as how he wasn't born here, perhaps that is understandable. What do you think it would take for him to be impeached for being a CCP puppet instead of the elected leader of THIS country?
To act honorably in his elected position representing the leader of Taiwan, he darned well better get off his butt and make the biggest national holiday ever seen during this year's once in a lifetime "Triple Tens Day" celebration on 10/10/2010. I wish to see flags everywhere, bands playing Taiwan's National Anthem, parades and cultural festivals throughout the island, military hardware demonstrations on par with the those found in the USA, former-USSR, and Mainland China, etc.. If President Ma really has the heart of a Taiwanese, he would ensure that happens. If he does not, then he's a wuss who does NOT deserve to be in office, and I gather that we all will finally understand that he's just a CCP puppet.
@matt - Is that a specific or generic "You" in your closing statement? BTW: You are incredibly lucid, eloquent, and insightful this evening. May I applaud?
And... Thanks for the suggestion; I'll head for the dart board tonight with an image in my mind. As for your hope of having your rants noticed... this might improve your odds:

Should Ronald McDonald be tried as a traitor to Mother Nature?
Should Pol Pot be tried for making Pots an unclean kind of thing?
Should every dirty, rusty figurehead on every boats front be axed every time a storm comes and makes the crew seasick?
The problem is, the locals don't want to fight for it. They don't know what they have and don't care. We can shout at them, but most of them are quite happy to take the money and run. Its reality. They wont know what they had until it is gone. They benefitted from getting it the easy way back in 1989 by having a more aware, better educated leadership in charge who saw the benefits of the system. But the people, who had been kept in line by controls and genocides for several decades, and have had little to no concept of resistance (as the borg say- resistence was futile for them) mutely accepted. Then a few elite members realized a few years later that people were waking up to how life could be better, and began hustling to get back in to rip all the benefits away. That is where Taiwan is now, with those people with misguided ideas about the 'good old days' in charge.
The locals have determined the insubstantial faith in 'freedom' that we spout is no truer than the idea that security cameras, bug devices, your own computer and your television make you more 'free'.
We are all slaves. We are all free to sit and be tracked for our rants. Nothing will change that. Violence brings attention to problems, but it wont solve them. The best I can do is rant on the net and hope somebody with influence takes some of my more lucid ideas and uses them to make life somewhat better for more people. That is modern civilization. It is every man for themselves... there is no one for all and all for one. That idea died a couple decades ago, and dies a new death every armed conflict that comes along.
All that war is good for is profiting some fat cats who cannot wait to try out their new toys.
Ma is a powerless automaton tacked onto the facade that passes for governance in a country that is run by the Mafia, who currently have made an alliance with fellow mafia brothers in their bid to streamline operations for effieciency. Killing each other for the dream of a flag or a distance unspecified unknown goal is pointless. If the locals wanted change, they would set specific, realistic targets and goals and have leaders who got them done. The people here don't have that.
So far, the only people with the realistic targets and goals are the greedy elites. That is why they are sucessful at working the system. If other people want to change things or maintain them they need better goals than that, that are obtainable realistically.
Cutting Ma into little bits only satisfies a base vengeance desire but wont do anything in the long run to help create a well run, balanced country. Logic and cold pragmatism must win, passion can help inspire, but does not win in the long run.
In short, I think you need to relax and go throw some darts at a picture of ma and go punch a bag of something and get your anger out. It sucks, but life will always appear to suck, until you realize you f**ed up and made it worse by changing it without a well thought plan.
Source(s): EDIT: I probably should change it to "We" It speaks to my own pissed off-edness and my own mistakes in life I guess, I think not many of us out here can say we MEANT to live our lives this way, but we went with the flow and here we are. - coolzLv 41 decade ago
Ma is standing in the middle, neither siding too much with China or Taiwan. Maybe this is because of the tension already brought about by barbaric ccp wuss to place 1500 missiles aimed at Taiwan and will use force to take back the island.

President Chen Shui-bian never called Chingag Kai-shek a mass murder, he is often misquoted and his comments where directed towards Chairman Mao.
