HDMI cable connections do act as outlet and inlet of video signals?

When DVD palyer is connected with HDMI cable to TV, can it be used to play DVD discs and also record tv programmes on to a DVD disc in a DVD Recorder

    You cannot record from a modern TV receiver because it has no video output. The TV set only receives video, it doesn't send it anywhere.

    To record a television program, you need to have a recording device connected to a source, like a satellite box, cable box, or game box.

    The recording device can be a satellite or cable DVR (a combination receiver and recorder), or a stand-alone recording deck.

    No, the HDMI port is always hard-wired to be either an input OR an output. Not both. One or the other.

    Your DVD player only has a HDMI output. You would need to buy a DVD recorder to record programs.
