GUYS, MEN ONLY: If your sports hero became an underwear model would you switch the style underwear your wear?
When David Beckham became the official underwear model for Emporio Armani, the sales shot up 130% the first week. Suddenly, guys who wore boxers every day were switching to briefs and other tight fitting styles of underwear simply because of who was modeling them in the ads. Not every guy is a fan of Beckham, but I wonder if sports heroes from the major professional sports leagues became underwear models, would that persuade you to switch the style of underwear you wear? Getting a major sports star to endorse any product increases sales and influences purchase decisions. Just wanted to know if you would change if your hero endorsed an underwear brand and if so which sports star would be the one to change your mind.

I think men will wear what is comfortable and stylish. There are loads of great brands and designs to choose, and some celebs posing in designer pants will help that brands popularity...

I dont know where you get your numbers from because Emporio never released a sales figure for their underwear range.
But, I think if I saw someone I admire and trust wearing something I would be more likely to buy it - when I saw Thomas Kretschmann as the face for Hugo Boss's fragrance I went and tried it. Didnt buy it, but the advertising did its job of promoting the brand and planting seeds.

NO that doesnt make any sense. Maybe some ppl thought those draws were wierd unti they saw Beckham in em. I mean Jordan has been endorsing Hanes for years and their not at the top I think

It's all advertising/marketing strategy, same as commercials. Depending on the product, they use models they think the average customer will either relate to or would like to look like to get them to buy the product.

Well considering that I don't watch sports,
no.
I think that the guy above me is right.
Their wives and girlfriends and sisters and mothers saw a sports guy the person liked,
So they bought those ones.
We'll just wear whatever works best.

Their wives/girlfriends were buying them, thinking they were going to look like Beckham.
