some have said SS got no cola & congress got no increase?
i know SS got no cola but call it what you will congress on jan. 6th got a $4700 per year increase in their pay check. maybe the senate got $5300. i read about it & called my REP. they tried to call it something else but finally did admit that their pay check went up $4700.---am i wrong?
i failed to say it was jan6th 2009 when they got the raise. sorry

You are not wrong, Only congress gave themselves a raise. It must have been the hard work they did between easter, spring and summer breaks and and ramming gov-care up our sitting devise.

The salaries of senators and congressmen are a drop in the bucket of the federal budget, and a small amount compared to what they get from lobbyists and PACs. And, thanks to the 27th amendment ratified in 1992, when Congress passes a pay raise for itself, the increase doesn't take effect until after the next election.

SS and vets did not get cola but politicians got a raise plus the government employees in Washington DC got a raise also

Nope. Congress voted to reject the automatic pay increase for itself for 2010.
