Who do you thing was the greatest American and why?

Personally I liked Reagan for many reasons.

Many people complain that he created a huge deficeit and they are right but I think there was good logic to it. In his farewell speech he did state that he was sorry about that.

The deficeit was created by building up the military to a huge size. This made the Soviet Union do the same thing and this military buildup was what had caused the Soviet Union to collapse due to bankruptcy.

He also was very funny.

lmao well its too bad Bush didnt apoligize for his mistakes cuase then 25 years from now another republican can point out, well he did apoligize.

Reagen was ALL man, thats a fact. and he had Stones!

I believe, Henry Thoreau was a great american patriot Not only was he a practitionar of Modern self reliance and limited governance which encompassed many of republicans Ideals before The Unionist was established , but he armed America with one of the most powerful weapons still used today. Civil Disobedience.

Since his Writings, People around the world have picked up where he left off to create a more peaceful form of warfare.

It is only til recently that Americans have been subjected to a domestic war, which is eventually going to demolish his teachings and ring in a more violent and detrimental Society.

Make no mistake, International enemies are watching the Divide of Americans , and that crevasse, is the means to which our enemy will find a home!

Reagan and his "trickle down economics" were a load of garbage that benefitted only the top 1% wealthiest in the country while royally screwing the bottom 99%. We're seeing an enormous increase in inequality in the United States and in the world. There's a massive reallocation of wealth from people who do productive work to people who simply have money. The figure that helps to underline just how extreme this inequality is becoming is the observation that 358 billionaires in the world have combined assets roughly equal to the combined annual income of the world's poorest 2.5 billion people, and that concentration is continuing... 90% of the value of shareholder equity in the United States is owned by the richest 10% of households. 47% is owned by the top 1% of households. The bottom 80% of households own 2% and Reagan added to this inequality.

There was no logic to Reagan tripling the national debt. I dont believe that Russia really saw them in a arms race with America, and they would have built up their army collapsed their economy anyway.

How could you pick Reagan out of hundreds of more qualified candidates? I think Washington is #1 on my list. He fought his @$$ off for your freedom! How could he NOT be the greatest?

You choose a criminal as the greatest american? surely you jest.

I would say a Lakota Indian by the name of Paul Grass is the greatest American.
