How does the Nissan ad of "buy one get one free" work?

Recently I have heard radio ads from a local Nissan new car dealer that say things like, "Buy one Nissan, get a second Nissan free."

As a skeptic I feel this is a come-on to get you into the dealer, then find out you have to pay sticker price of a top-of-the-line model in order to get a stripped down cheapest model.

But, as I realize, I haven't bought a new car in over 10 years. So just how does this thing work? Anybody with first hand knowledge?

yep u got it correct..........same thing dodge did a few years back.......u buy a 30k car and they "give" u a 9k beater....which due to interest and payments u actually end up paying for at least 2 times over......

    ** its a sales gimmick......

** but if its a local only sales add record it and see what exactly they say....especially when the guy at the end talks really fast.......

Well, it's quite simple. You buy any Nissan and you get a free Nissan. Unfortunately the free Nissan you get is a 1993 Pathfinder that is loaded with fertilizer, propane tanks and fireworks. But if you don't mind the overwhelming smell of gasoline, it's a pretty good deal. Oh, and the car has to be picked up at the impound lot for the NYPD.

Pay list price for a high dollar Altima and get a check that covers a two year lease on a low dollar left over Versa.

You guessed right. No discount on the first car, stripped down model on the free one. It's a common gimmick to get you into the showroom.

    There is no free lunch.

  • when ad's don't explain fully, there is usually a gimmick, like when they say your paying dead cost, makes you wonder how they stay business.

Bait and switch, full blown deceit, a slimy car dealer never changes, they only change tactic's.

shop for lowest price and don't be swayed by slick salesmen, compare apples to apples, nothing is free.

I went into the dealer to check it out. You buy one car and get a free lease on the other.
