Josh Dugan - An origin bolter?

Should Josh Dugan be considered for the fullback spot in origin? He's in the best form of any of the NSW fullbacks and he has the ability to turn a game on its head. The only other serious contenders are Hayne & Gidley. Hayne is in only average form at the moment and Gidley is a bench player at best at Origin level. Thoughts...........

same old story. if he was a queenslander he would be picked but because he from NSW he won't unless the blues are 2-0 down then they will make their changes.

He played like an absolute freak in last nights City Country game, he owned that field. The way he's playing now is definitely deserving of an Origin spot, but I can't see him getting picked. We all know the NSW selectors will pick both Gidley and Hayne so I don't see where they can fit Dugan in.

He should be but he won't. Next to Dugan, the best fullback running around eleigible for the Blues is Patten. Origin back three will be 1. Hayne, 2. Morris and 5. Jennings.

Dugan won't get a look in unless as was mentioned earlier, NSW is 2-0 down.

Seriously, i don't think Gidley is an origin player, they just expect him to turn out like Andrew Johns.

However, Hayne after one of the performances i saw running down the sideline and his foot was inches off the line was amazing but of course video ref thought differently. This Young Gun Dugan i think is a great player as eveyone saw last night in City Vs Country getting himself a try and setting another up, but as wev'e seen before, the selectors for Nsw are very picky and god knows who they will pick. my idea: give Jamie Soward a go, if he doesnt own up in the first game chuck in anasta.

Nope, not yet. Gidley and Hayne will always be infront of him. I've heard talks of Jennings will play on the wing, Jarryd Hayne at fullback and Kurt Gidley in the halves.

Look I think long term - absolutely - get him into the camp and get him training with the other guys.

For this Origin? I want to win. I want experience and skill in this side. I can see Dugan owning the FB position in the next few years but his form has been patchy.

He has played several games having BLINDERS like great footy setting up and scoring tries. Then he drops the ball and loses his focus. Origin is a BIG stage to get a 2nd year rookie to debut. Give him 1 more year or so in Country and if he keeps playing like this there will be no excuse!!!

I love the kid he is our future but not just yet!!

It's an option yeah. That means we could put Hayne on the wing to contain players like Tuqiri and Tonga. Then we could have Gidley as utility on the bench.

And let's face it, NSW need some youth

Not yet, you still have Hayne and Gidley who have proven themselves in origin, but in a few years, he is definitely a big chance, he is still a big too lean, just needs to fill out a bit

There's the problem, Hayne and Gidley. Even if they were playing absolute sh*thouse they would still get picked. NSW selectors don't pick on form so he won't get selected.

Definitely. He's playing better than Hayne, who I expected to coem good around this time.. yet it's not happening.

Chuck Hayne on the wing, Dugan in fullback. He's certainly good enough.

Thankfully NSW selectors are stupid and won't pick him. Canberra can't afford to lose him during Origin. Mind you with Daley's influence the selectors may go agaisnt their trend and make a correct call for once.

As someone else pointed out if he was a Qlder and there was room he would be picked, just like Billy was as a 'rookie' and look how thats turned out.
