how should i clean/brush the hair around my shih tzu's eyes?

Not really too much to add. Don't want to use a metal comb near her eyes.

I have the same problem sorta, my dog is a chihuahua X. She gets lots of the tear stuff around her eyes. What i do when it gets really bad is, run a tea bag under warm water then soak her eyes with it... rub it a little ( make sure you dont get any in her eyes) then i get a face cloth and run it under warm water and gently rub all the grot off. I wouldn't brush around her eyes. Maybe you could use your fingers to do it. If her fur around her eyes is getting in her eyes... i would cut it or you could put it up into a pony tail. BTW dont use the tea bag unless its bad.
