How much do you think my baby will weigh at birth?
I had to have a scan yesterday becuase my midwife thought I could have polyhydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid) because of how big my bump was measuring, I am 35 + 3 weeks at the moment and at the scan the sonographer told me that the bump was all baby and the estimated weight was about 6lb 3 ounces at the moment. I would like to know a guestimated idea how big he could be at birth, when his due date is in another 4 1/2 weeks taking into consideration how much weight they can gain in a four weeks Thanks

They can be wrong trust me When I was pregnant the doctor was saying that I am measuring 3 weeks ahead and then I had an ultrasound done around 34 weeks there were telling me that my son was measuring around 7 pounds there were saying I was probably going to have a 10 pounder and when I had my son everyone was surprised because he only weighed 6 pounds 10 oz. he was a small boy but it helped make labor easier. Congrats to you and your new bundle of joy

In the last month, the baby can gain up to a pound a week... Also keep in mind that the sonograms aren't totally accurate, they can only guestimate... they can be off by as much as 2 pounds in either direction... Your doctor knows what he's talking about!!! Good luck!

my guess (since i'm not a pro) would be around 8-9 lbs
that's about how much my daughter weighed at that time of pregnancy and she was 9 lbs 1 oz
my son on the other hand, weighed 7-8 lbs at that time and then ended up weighing 11 lbs 2 oz and was a week early - so you never know what you're gonna get!

its not a rule as all babies are differant, but most information will tell you that in the last 4 weeks a baby can gain upto 500grams per week

sounds like it gonna be a big baby. my doc told me they gain about a pound a week the last month, so watch what you eat and try to stay active if your doc says its ok. they might have to induce you before your date. the tech are usually rite about size.

Whatever. As long as it has all the appendages and is healthy - who cares. (± 8 pounds, 3.5 kg, normal weight)
Peace.
