I'm not sure what its called but go to your local nursery, let them know what your problem is and get what looks like white paint,they will know what its called, put it up about1 to 1 1/2 ft.from the ground, after that buy a protectant to wrap around the base of the tree to keep the rabbits from chewing away any more bark

You put a ring of chicken wire all around it to 2 ft high, higher still if the problem is caysed by roaming Deer
