Which musical work are you currently obsessed with?
I can't stop listening to Vivaldi's glorious "Lauda Jerusalem." I discovered it last week, and now I'm hopelessly addicted!

Isn't it yummy?
How about you? Is there a piece of music you're crazy about at the moment?

You could have noticed my previous question about Mozart's music, which shows how much I'm currently obsessed with his magical and incomparable works, especially the linked excerpts.

Now, I'd like to add another one of his charming movements, which is the Andante from his Serenade KV 250 in D [Haffner].
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySkOhksiMIc
Notice how it starts with a magical introduction, till the main lovely theme enters at 0:47, after which there are the beautiful arrangements for violin and orchestra, through which same lovely theme is repeated.
One of his other really charming themes I've been always obsessed with and trying to find, which is an orchestral arrangement of this excerpt from "Venite pur avanti" in "Don Giovanni", from 1:18 till 2:14

However the orchestral arrangement is really magic with a slower tempo, I heard it once in a collection, and don't know who performed it, I hope I could find it anywhere!

I like Vivaldi =) yes les miserables is excellent as the other poster said, Kristina från Duvemåla is also excellent, it's just been translated into an English concert version and a musical in English will be out soon! as a matter of fact, it's going to be the next Les Miserables.

Oh my gosh!!!! I have been obsessed with MANY MANY MANY pieces!!! Ones that I become obsessed with every time I listen to them though are (I'm obsessed with symphonies and these composers):
1. Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony - every movement
2. Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony - 1st movement, 3rd movement ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvA8_Pk6u_s&feature... ), and I normally wouldn't love the finale but then I stop and think about how this was his last symphony before passing away exactly 9 days after the premiere! The emotion put into it is so indescribably incredible!! It seems very obvious to me that he was ready to pass away by choice. Like life had nothing to offer him anymore. I cry when I think of that and listen to it. (especially the final measures.)
3. Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony - first movement
4. Mozart's 40th symphony - every movement
5. Mozart's 41st symphony - every movement
6. Mozart's 25th symphony - first movement
7. Beethoven's 9th symphony - every movement
8. Beethoven's 7th symphony - first, second, and fourth movements
9. Beethoven's 3rd symphony - every movement
10. Haydn's 94th symphony - every movement
11. Haydn's 90th symphony - first and last movement
12. Haydn's 104th symphony - last movement
haha and these are just a few. lol :)

I wouldn't exactly call it an obsession but lately I've been re-acquainting myself with the many jazz influenced compositions of Claude Bolling. And I'm glad I'm doing this finally. It's like re-connecting with an old friend.
The job I'm doing now has me driving on the road three hours and so I started pulling out a lot of my older tapes so I would have something besides radio to listen to during the daily drive. Bolling just happens to be one of the composers who's music I don't have on CD. 90% of my music collection is now on CD. The rest is either on LP or tape.

I am addicted to Heartland and Irelands Call. but love all the songs...

I listened to the Vivaldi and it was very nice.
However I really do love the Bach's Cello Suite No.1. It just sounds so beautiful... don't know how else to describe it.

Hafwen, would I somewhat talk in basic terms of the previous and of the destiny? (at present my well-being isn't stable adequate to get lots in touch into this) previous --a while in the past, only like Erunno, I fell in love with Joachim Raff. staggering...Why isn't he extra promoted? he's a real genius! He sounds "new" and "previous" on a similar time, like very unique, very "diverse" It pulls you and would not enable you pass over one single observe. you desire to pay attention what comes next, and next.... Then, while Hafwen published approximately Lully, nicely, my love for him exchange into revived. Baroque is my favourite. those hyperlinks you gave are so marvelous!! destiny.- I plan to start training Mozart's Piano concerto 23, which i like. and that is going to be my next obsession, this time no longer in basic terms listening, yet enjoying it too. Sorry! i'm no longer too "inspired" recently.... yet thank you, human beings, i attempted to hearken to all the hyperlinks you have so generously provided right here. somewhat relaxing! I gave you all thumbs up...you're all jewels! Saludos! (Greetings) tucomena
