Anyone here been diagnosed with Group B Strep?
I had to have a swab taken when I was 27 weeks pregnant because I thought my waters had broke, it turns out they hadn't but I was diagnosed with having group B Strep, I know the implications of this, my question is to whoever has had this how soon after you go into labour or your waters break do you have to go into hospital?

IF your water BREAKS.....You should ALWAYS get to the hospital IMMEDIATELY! When I was pregnant with my 3rd child I was diagnosed with B Strep. If you go into ACTIVE labor get to the hospital ASAP.....you have to be put on a Penicillin IV witch takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to complete. This is done to prevent your baby from contracting the bacteria / infection during child birth. My son was born just fine with absolutely NO complications. Good luck with your baby and Congratulations!!!

My waters broke and then I went to hospital. They sent me home and told me to come back if my contractions start. When I got to hospital the second time, I told them I had Group B strep because they didn't read my notes properly and then they administered antibiotics into my iv. Nothing to worry about as long as you get your antibiotics

You need to get there as soon as you realize you are in fact in labor -
The IV antibiotics takes 2hrs
