Is this really unprofessional or a breach of ethics?
Long story short, my parents paid my attorney for my divorce.
Now my parents are trying to gain custody of my children.
Is this a breach of ethics for my attorney to have accepted $ from people who are trying to take my children from me?

not at all...if the same attorney was representing them against you in the custody battle, that would be a conflict of interest, but who pays isn't an issue.
