Write your story and get to know your characters. Or, if you've already written it, consider what your characters are like, and what kind of story you've written (general ficiton, sci-fi, comedy) and where they're from. Their backgrounds, etc.

Choose a name depending on the personality of the guy. Usually when I write my stories, I figure out the personality of my character before choosing their name. I do the same with their middle and last names as well.

    Fred.

Look, if you want to write a story, write a story. Figure the name out later. It's amazing how many people seem to think that posting questions on the internet saying they're writing a story will magically get it written.

Well, it depends on what type of story you are writing. If you are looking for a certain type of name (i.e gothic, etc.) then you can just go and google or yahoo "Gothic names for boys" and a whole list'll pop up for you to choose from!

i like choosing latin names for my people to describe their personality. like, if the person was honest, i would type it into a latin translator and use the name if it sounded ok. :)
