Please identify this household bug for me I keep seeing them!?
This is the best picture I could get. They are tiny and I keep seeing them, especially in the kitchen area. I want to find out what they are so I can get them out of my apartment! I live in a second story apartment in coastal Southern California if that helps. They are really fast- this one I found in a cup of water on the kitchen counter- it had drowned so it's not the greatest example, but if you are familiar with different types of bugs you might still be able to tell what it is. Thank you so much.

looks like a flour miller
translation for Californians
flour moth - they come (hatch) out of boxes that contain food stuffs like cake mixes pancakes cereal boxes stuff like that
not from the food inside the plastic but from the glue made of flour that holds the box together, if you find most of them in the kitchen then you know that is what they are
open up the oldest box of food you have and take out the plastic liner and look in the box itself and see if you find paperish shiffles that would be the egg cases
they like to chew up clothes by the way
the way to be rid of them is to get rid of all the boxes - removing their food source and vacuum the devil out of the home - launder all the fabrics once - then the should be gone

photograph is not any help, from what you describe they'd desire to be weevils. Take each dried cereal you have interior the abode, wipe it off over the sink, place it in Ziplock bags, vacuum out any factors which you had dried meals saved in. I easily have considered spaghetti noodles in a save crawling with weevils, they the place in a cardboard field with a sparkling window - kinda creepy. in spite of they're, flour beetles , weevils take care of them a similar.
