Horus and Jesus. Similar?
So Christians, please let me point something out. The Egyptian God, Horus, and the Christian Prophet, Jesus, have almost the EXACT same birth/death. Horus, Son of Osiris and Isis, concieved by mortals names Meri (Mary) and Jo-seph (Joseph). Born In a stable or a cave, during birth, the Northeren Star of Sirius was shining (Star in the East), Only begotten son of Osiris, foster father's ancestry was royal (Like Joesphs), annunciation by an Angel to Isis (Mary was encountered by an angel about Jesus's birth), Born around the same times, Birth was witnessed by Sheperds, Three Solar Dieties were a witness to birth (Three Wise Men), Herut tried to have Horus murdered (Herod tried to have Jesus murdered), Age of ritual (both 12 years old), No information about both of them through the age 12-30, baptized at the age of 30, and the baptiser was beheaded (Horus and Jesus's baptiser.) Please look at this and tell me what you think. No Bible quotes please. I will just ignore them after sighing.

They will just force down your throat another story of Horus, not realizing there were several, and ignore the ones that are similar to Jesus and say it can't be true because one story of Horus wasn't similar.
ignorance basically.
they also say Massey was debunked, but it wasn't completely debunked, and it is really only "debunked" by Christian apologists that did exactly what I said above they would do. Also Dionysus has many similarities to Jesus as well, and the New Testament borrowed heavily from the Greek religion at the time (considering they were in that area!), that is after all where they got the idea of an afterlife with reward and punishment.

Yes, you see Jesus is a historical figure, but his story has been taken literally, and the church men burned people at stake who did not agree with them making Jesus into God, and taking out the gospels So today, people could not get the spiritual growth that they need and know they are children of LIGHT. They depend on preachers and tithe thinking they are getting blessed. The Bible is history and allegory. In fact, it says it in the Bible that it is!
People can do so many things today, if only they believed!!
By the way,The book of Enoch was takin out of the Gospels and it is very important since it talks more about what happened on Earth in the days of Noah, why there is Evil etc.

You're referring to the bogus claims by Zeitgeist in his video on Youtube, I guess. Let's do a little comparison: Mary, Jesus' mother, was a human. Isis, Horus' mother, was a goddess. (Zeitgeist claims that both were born on 25th of December) We know nothing about Jesus' birth day, but in the 4th century Christians began celebrating this birthday around the winter solstice, because they saw His birth as fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy "The people that lives in the darkness, sees a bright light". Horus' birth was celebrated on the winter solstice. (Zeitgeist claims that both Jesus and Horus were born of a virgin, which is basically a lie) Jesus' mother was a virgin. Horus' mother got herself pregnant by using Osiris' penis (Osiris was ripped to peaces by an enemy) (Zeitgeist claims that both Jesus and Horus were visited by three wise men) Jesus was visited by wise men (the bible doesn't give their number, but calls them magoi, which is a persian priest caste) Horus was visited by three gods (Zeitgeist claims that the cross is a sun symbol) Jesus' death on the cross didn't make Christians use the cross as an outward symbol. this practice also dates back to the 4th century AD. Before that, they used the fish, the greek word for fish being an acronym for "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Redeemer". The Horus' sign was not a 'cross' at all! It is the Nile Key, the Ankh. It is not a "solar symbol", as Zeitgeist claims. Its meaning is eternal life. Egyptologists speculate that it is either a knot (reminescent of Isis' belt buckle), a sign showing the sexual union of man and woman, the thoracic vertebra of a bull or simple a symbolic picture of the Nile. This can be done for nearly every parallel Zeitgeist claims to see between Jesus and Horus.

Is anyone really surprised considering how many other stories in the bible are borrowed from pre-existing mythologies.
To the asker, If you haven't already you should see the Zeitgeist movie's documentary on religion which demonstrates that the Jesus story has a lot in common not only with the strory of Horus, but of other deities as well and explains that a lot of it is astrological. I'll put links below.

Actually, Dionysus is closer. Including everything here... though, Dionysus' father was a god and his mother was a virgin. His birth was witnessed by magi as well (and in the bible, it isn't 3 wise men.... it says Wise Men gave THREE GIFTS) =) Dionysus' first miracle is turning water into wine for a wedding. He had 12 apostles. He walked on water. He raised the dead and healed the sick. He was crucified and rose 3 days later.
Horus doesn't even come close to this one. =)

Jorden, you do err, what is the birthday of Christ? There are several differen't teachings about Horus, they change with times and cultures, none of which are similiar to the teachings of Christ. You would have done well to ignore Zeitegeist.

If you read this garbage from an author called Massey then you should know that he has been debunked and his ideas are not supported by any credible scholars of Egyptology.
