What is the difference between obstetric and nonobstetric?
Why is it important to know if a service is for an obstetric or nonobstetic patient? Can someone possibly give me an example of a CPT code for both an obstetric and nonobstretric service or procedure?
I am stumped right now! Can you help me out so I can look at these and see exactly what it means and how it is done? Thank you. Any help is appreciated.

Different price code. Many women continue to see their obstetrician for all their care. If they have bronchitis and are pregnant, the doctor will be paid more than if he is seeing the same patient who is not pregnant.

A CPT code is a code that is used by doctors to categorize what procedures a certain patient has required. For example, a procedure on an OB patient could be an episiotomy or a C-section. So you would look up the code for that. A procedure for a non OB patient could be anything from a broken arm to a brain scan.
