What is the fastest way to move up in a company?

I know the most obvious details:

Hard work, Dedication, Ability to follow directions and take orders, Positive attitude and Team attitude.

However, what about the things we can't control:

Favouritism and etc.

I am taking a job at Geek Squad at my Best Buy as a way to get a foot in the door for my tech career. There are six levels in Geek Squad:

COA- Person who makes calls to customers explaining there diagnosis and helping customers on the sales floor

CIA- In-store technician

DCI- Basically the supervisor/manager of the CIA's

Agent-field tech in training

Double-Agent- field tech that supports in home problems.

Special Agent- Technician for business and etc.

I will be obtaining my AAS in Network Administration in December and hope this will speed up the process of promotions but other than that, any other ideas on what i could do to move up as quickly as possible?
